Always wanted to learn how to make jam? Well it doesn't get any easier than this recipe!

Just a few hours out of your day and not only will you have the most delicious jam but your home will be left smelling amazing!

Makes 2 small jars

Ingredients:

500g frozen Berries

Juice of 1 Lemon

¼ cup Water

500g Jam Sugar (sugar that has pectin mixed in)

Notes: If you can’t find jam sugar, replace it with 500g caster sugar and 20g of pectin. Pectin is a type of gelatin made from plants. It also sets differently than powdered and leaf gelatin.

Method:

  • Add fruit, water and lemon juice to a pot on low heat. Cook until the fruit has softened, then squish the fruit so there aren’t any large clumps.

  • Add in the sugar and mix well.

  • Bring to a boil and allow the mixture to reach 105c and continue boiling till it reaches desired consistency.

  • To test if the jam is ready dip a frozen spoon into the jam, wait for the jam to cool, then push the jam on the spoon and it forms ripples, it’s ready. DO NOT STICK YOUR FINGERS INTO THE JAM WHILE IT’S COOKING & HOT! YOU WILL BURN YOURSELF.

  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. This will allow your jam to settle so when you pour it into your jars the fruit wont raise to the top.

  • Carefully pour jam into sterile jars and allow to fully cool. This will keep in the pantry for around 1 year.
